Women's track and field coach Jim Clark and volleyball coach Jon Hegerle recently announced that Jill Gustafson signed a Dakota Athletic Conference Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College.

She graduates this spring from West Fargo High School, and will compete in both volleyball and track and field for the Jimmies.

Gustafson, a 5-foot, 9-inch setter and hitter for the Packers, was a 2010 All-Conference selection who recorded 412 assists, 178 kills, 123 digs, 47 aces and 32 blocks last season.

"I have great respect for the development Jill has received in the Packer volleyball program," Hegerle said. "Her experiences both as a setter and a hitter have allowed her to become an all-around versatile player.

"This development, combined with Jill's athleticism, is why we are excited to have her join the Jimmie volleyball program."

In track and field, Gustafson placed seventh in the 100 meter hurdles during the 2010 State Meet, and also qualified for state in the 300 meter hurdles and triple jump.

"Jill is a very personable young lady and a terrific student," Clark said. "I think she enjoys track, as she came to watch one of our meets and stayed the whole day.

"Jill competes in a very good track program at West Fargo and knows how to work. She got to state in both hurdles and the triple jump, and I am pretty sure her best days are ahead of her in all of her events.

"Jill will be a valuable and welcome addition to the Jimmie track and field team."

Gustafson also played basketball for West Fargo , and was involved in Student Council and National Honor Society. She plans to major in studio art/interior design while at Jamestown College.

Jill Gustafson is the daughter of Todd Gustafson and Carlene Gustafson.
