Harold R. Floan, 85, Fargo, died on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Palliative Care in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Harold Raymond Floan was born on April 17, 1924 at Fertile, Minn. to John and Ida (Boyum) Floan. He was raised on the family farm near Fertile and attended country school and high school in Fertile. He moved to Moorhead, Minn. where he worked at Holsom Bakery. Harold married Geraldine Iverson on July 6, 1946 at Fertile. They made their home on a farm near Fertile where he farmed and drove school bus until 1969. They then moved to West Fargo where he worked at Swanston Equipment until retiring in 1986. Geraldine died in 2000. Harold has resided at the Evergreens in Fargo for the last four months where he enjoyed being waited on.
Some of his interests included camping, fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He also enjoyed the visits with the coffee club at SunMart.
He is survived by a son, Ray (Twilla) Floan of West Fargo; three daughters, Barbara (Ralph) Kessler of Horace, Carol Wiebusch and Nancy Floan, both West Fargo; three grandchildren; three siblings, Ila (Ron) Urness of West Fargo, Jim (Char) Floan of Rogers, Minn. and Joyce (Curt) Erlandson of Kenosha, Wis.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife; and siblings, Luther and Ilene Floan
Visitation and prayer services were held on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
A memorial service was held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
