Harwood American Legion Auxiliary sponsors Girl State candidates

The Harwood American Legion Auxiliary will be sending five candidates to attend the North Dakota Girls State Program June 5 - 10 - Allison Seibel, daughter of Karla and Dave Seibel, Harwood; Tori Spiesz, daughter of Jennifer Spiesz, Harwood; Alexys Stoner, daughter of Lonna and Brent Stoner, Horace, Alexis Tschosik, daughter of Kristin Braun and Loren Tschosik, West Fargo, and Crystal Boerger, daughter of Janet and Scott Boerger, Horace.

Seibel and Spiesz are juniors attending Northern Cass High School, while Stoner, Tschosik and Boerger are juniors at West Fargo High School.

The American Legion Auxiliary hosted its first Flickertail Girls State at Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D. in 1947. The event has been held at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks since 1950. Thousands of women have participated in this non-partisan program which teaches young women responsible citizenship.
