Donations of $1,070 in gift cards were raised through a holiday effort by Healing Touch Chiropractic and its staff along with community members that were presented recently to the family of seven-year-old Mikey Fetzer who died in June of this year from injuries sustained in a vehicle-pedestrian accident.
In an ultimate story of giving and gratitude, Mikey's organs were donated so that six others would live.
Dr. Tiffany Johnson of Healing Touch, acknowledging the amazing gift of life given by Mikey and his family, asked that staff and others help out during the holiday season by making the Fetzer's load a little lighter.
"Each holiday season, we are choosing to help a less fortunate family - one of our 'Pay it Forward' missions," Johnson stated. "When hearing about the Fetzer family last summer, my heart broke to imagine my life without one of our children, or anyone we love for that matter. We wanted to bring the community together to show them that love and support is all around them in this difficult time of life."
The donations were delivered to the Fetzer's on December 15. "As we know they are grateful, this is about giving them the opportunity to have a memorable holiday amidst the tragedy that has plagued them," Johnson stated. "Thank you for your kindness and gratitude. Because of people like you who are 'Paying it Forward', we will continue to make this world a healthier, happier place. I wish you all a blessed holiday season."
