Showers and thunderstorms were expected to develop late Tuesday night and this morning in eastern North Dakota.

The precipitation will spread east into western Minnesota by this afternoon. Some areas will receive an inch of rain, with higher amounts possible in localized areas.

Areas along and east of the Red River Valley have the best chance for receiving heavy rain this afternoon into Thursday. A few of the stronger storms this afternoon could also produce small hail and brief wind gusts. Drier air will build back into the area by Friday, with a warmer and dry weekend expected.
