The Red River Valley Fair Association's Board President has received the highest state honor. Bill Hoffmann, Wheatland, has been honored with the 2010 North Dakota Fair Person of the Year award at the Dakota Fairs Convention held in Bismarck, on Nov. 20.
The award is presented to an individual who has promoted the fair industry and agricultural education at the Fair. Hoffmann has had a vision for the past three years of creating an Agriculture Education Center on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in order to educate the suburban visitor as to how food is created and how it is brought to tables.
The Cass County Farm Bureau Ag Education Center has blossomed into a 16,000 square foot facility with the main focus on the regions commodities and how they relate to a day-to-day lifestyle.
As well as the Cass County Farm Bureau Ag Education Center, Hoffmann has been instrumental in many other facets of the Red River Valley Fair including ushering at all of the concerts, helping with fair picnics, and working with the beef cattle during every one of the shows, just to name a few.
"Hoffmann is a true visionary for the Red River Valley Fair Association. He is very goal-oriented and recognizes what needs to be done to make sure that the Red River Valley Fair Association continues to thrive as a prominent location for year-around events for the Red River Valley," said General Manager Bryan Schulz.
