Horace Lutheran hosts ice cream social
Horace Lutheran Church is holding its annual Barbecue and Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The menu includes pie and ice cream, various toppings, barbecues and potato salad.
This 136 year-old congregation has a strong musical history. Besides the choir, small groups including the seven member Ole's Octet, the Meadow Muffins, more recently "Cool Reign" have brought music and fun to the community. This year, former choir members and others who like to sing are invited to a "Sing-a-long" with some members of the Praise Team at 6:30 to 7 when they've finished their ice cream. A worship service will follow.
Profits from the Ice Cream Social will go toward paving the parking lot. The old Horace, N.D. congregation built a new church building in 2009, but every wet and muddy spring reminds people that the work on the parking lot isn't finished.
