Immigration reform sessions set
An up-to-date review of Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR), one of the nation's defining moral, political, and faith issues will take place at two sites on Wednesday, August 18. The first session will take place at Jalapeno's Restaurant, 2901 Main Ave., Fargo, during a lunch and learn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those attending will order off the menu. The second session will be held at Presentation Prayer Center, 3001 11th St. S., Fargo, from 6 to 8 p.m., with the freewill offering meal provided by Raices de Mexico, as a fundraiser for Opening Borders.
Presenter will be Rev. John Guttermann, a United Church of Christ pastor and Church World Service's Minnesota Field Director for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The program includes an introduction to immigration in the faith tradition, the pro- and anti-immigration traditions in the United States, framing immigration as a faith issue, and preparation for advocacy.
