The West Fargo Police Department recently added another reverse dialing telephone notification system to alert the public of emergency situations. A Child is Missing is a Florida based non profit agency founded to assist law enforcement in the safe recovery of lost or missing children. The program can also be used by police to notify the public of missing endangered adults.

When a person goes missing local law enforcement officers are responsible for obtaining a description of the person and selecting the area to be notified. A Child is Missing staff members enter the information into the computer program and launch the message. The system can place 1,000 telephone calls in sixty seconds to a selected geographical area and relay detailed information relating to the missing person.

The program uses data mining to obtain published telephone numbers from directories and other public sources. Telephone numbers can also be added to the data base by going on line to A child is Missing http://www.achildismissing.org. Messages are available through Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. There is now a link to become registered on the West Fargo Police web site at http://www.westfargopolice.com/ or by calling the West Fargo Police at 701-433-5500.

CODE RED and CODE RED Weather Warning remain available for you to receive notification of emergency conditions existing within the community or predicted severe weather events. CODE RED uses data mining to obtain published telephone numbers from directories and other public sources. You can also opt into the system by going online to CODE RED at the link located on the West Fargo Police web site http://www.westfargopolice.com/ or by calling the West Fargo Police Department at 701-433-5500.

CODE RED Weather Warning is a totally automated telephone notification system triggered by the National Weather Service severe weather warning system. To be able to receive weather warnings you must register your contact phone through the link on the West Fargo Police web site http://www.westfargopolice.com/ or by calling the West Fargo Police Department at 701-433-5500.

Telephone numbers entered into any of the systems is strictly controlled and not released.
