Jamestown out, Mandan in as site of boys state swim meet
The North Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors met Dec. 15, and approved reassigning the 2012 boys state swimming and diving meet to Mandan. The tournament runs March 2-3.
This action was based on a recommendation regarding capacity from the NDHSAA Large Tournament Committee. Jamestown originally was slated as the 2012 host, with maximum seating at 525.
At last year's boys state, meet in Grand Forks, however, attendance reached 787.
The Large Tournament Committee noted Jamestown provided good management and hosting, but there is a need to provide a facility that would include providing adequate seating for parents and fans.
