Johnson joins West Fargo Police Department
Travis Johnson is the newest member of the West Fargo Police Department, coming on board as a patrol officer.
A Fargo native, he graduated from North High, before enrolling at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, earning a criminal justice degree in the spring of 2004. Johnson then attended the Police Academy at Lake Region Junior College in Devils Lake, graduating in the summer of 2004.
Following graduation, he accepted a position with General Security Services Corporation in Fargo, where he spent six months; was employed at the Medora Police Department in a seasonal position for four months; and then with the McLean County Sheriff's Department, where he spent two years. He joined the West Fargo Police Department in September of 2007. He was already somewhat familiar with the staff, having served as an intern in 2002, while attending UND.
Johnson said he is really enjoying his duties with the West Fargo Department, which presently involves a rotating shift. "My parents still live in North Fargo, so it is really nice to be home," he stated. "This is an excellent Department and it's really a pleasant change, going from a small department to a larger operation, with more opportunities."
In his time away from work, Johnson, enjoys hunting, fishing, mountain biking and motorcycle riding.
