Join in the fun, be a part of the run
West Fest Saturday will receive a jump start with 10K, 5K and a 2 Mile Run/Walk coordinated by Fargo Marathon founder and organizer Mark Knutson. The event will warm up the parade route from 8 to 10 a.m. along Sheyenne Street which will once again serve as a core hub of West Fest activity.
Knutson emphasizes that the event will serve up something for avid runners and walkers alike. "I encourage everybody to be a part of it, even if you are not a runner. The 5K or 2 mile is perfect for walkers and it will be fun to be out there."
Lineup for the 10K is 7:30 a.m. followed by announcements and the National Anthem at 7:45 a.m. and the 10K race start at 8 .m. The 5K and 2 mile run/walk race will begin at 8:15 a.m.
The starting point for all the legs of the races is by Sandy's Donuts.
The 2 mile run/walk will go down Sheyenne Street to 13th Avenue, and then back again the same path to Sandy's.
The 5K will travel Sheyenne and crossover 13th Avenue hitting the bike path traveling east and west before turning right on First Street to 17th Avenue and concluding by Sandy's.
The 10K will also start on Sheyenne and go to Thirteenth and then meander through Charleswood and over to Beaton Drive before heading back to Sheyenne Street and the finish line at Sandy's.
