Klabunde was selected from a pool of over 500 exemplary applicants to serve as part of this 15-person committee, that will have the task of revising the certification standards to exemplify the latest thinking in the field as well as reflect the NBPTS policy statement, "What Teachers Should Know and Be Able to Do," and revising board perspectives on key issues defined in the Standards Development Handbook.

The committee will make final recommendations on the standards to the NBPTS Board of Directors during the fall of 2010. Klabunde has already spent time in Washington, D.C. working with the other educators selected and will return this summer to continue the process.  She is the only teacher in our district who is nationally certified.
