Koppelman to seek re-election
Rep. Kim Koppelman has announced that he will seek re-election to the North Dakota House of Representatives in West Fargo’s District 13.
Koppelman is chairman of the Judiciary Committee and also serves on the Political Subdivisions Committee, the Administrative Rules Committee—which he previously served as both Chairman and Vice Chairman—and on the interim Judiciary Committee.
He also served on the Appropriations Committee for four years and as Chairman of the Constitutional Revision Committee, which was merged into the Judiciary Committee during the most recent legislative session.
“It is an honor, a privilege, and a great responsibility to represent the people of District 13. I ask for the support of the people of our community to continue this important work,” Koppelman said in announcing his candidacy for re-election.
Koppelman was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994, where he has represented West Fargo since.
He also served as the national Chairman of the Council of State Governments (CSG), which is made up of all three branches of government in all 50 states—only the 75th person in the nation’s history to do so.
He has been appointed by the North Dakota Supreme Court to serve on several committees and has served in various other capacities, state-wide and nationally, during his legislative tenure. He has received recognition and several awards for his legislative work.
Rep. Koppelman has sponsored several pieces of landmark legislation, including regulatory reform, which gave the people’s elected representatives more control over the process and created a meaningful check and balance in overseeing and limiting government regulation and “red tape” in North Dakota.
“We’ve accomplished a lot, including putting policies in place which have helped our state prosper and grow to the point that North Dakota is now the envy of the nation, but there is still work to do”, said Koppelman. “With the people’s continued support, I look forward to working tirelessly to help our state and community remain a great place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.”
Koppelman is also the founder and president/CEO of Koppelman & Associates, LLC, an advertising, marketing and communications firm headquartered in West Fargo.
He and his wife, Torey, are the parents of three adult children and the grandparents of six grandchildren and live in West Fargo.
