Laney honored as dedicated, local leader
U.S. Senator John Hoeven honored Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney recently for his recognition as a 9-1-1 Government Leader, for his work to promote emergency response efforts and to demonstrate the importance of 9-1-1.
"Sheriff Laney is a dedicated local leader and well deserving of this national honor," said Hoeven. "He and the members of his staff have acted with courage and confidence in the face of major Red River flooding, severe storms and other emergencies in Cass County. He is a true hometown hero for North Dakota citizens." Sheriff Laney is the Chairperson of the Board of Authority for the Red River Regional Dispatch Center in Fargo. The center is the first to serve two counties in separate states, and has been hailed as a model for consolidation and cooperation. Sheriff Laney is also working with the North Dakota legislature to provide suggestions and strategies on 9-1-1 policy issues.
