Larry Stillwell, 81, Moorhead, Minn., died Monday, May 5, 2008, in the Elim Care Center, Fargo.

LaMoine Eugene Stillwell was born at Watford City, N.D. on April 20, 1927, to Orin Wesley and Mable Mae (Lamb) Stillwell. He was baptized at First Presbyterian Church, Watford City, on December 24, 1939. He was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Jamestown, N.D. on March 21, 1956. He attended school in Watford City, Mayville and Lisbon in N.D. He graduated from high school at LaMoure, N.D. He attended Jamestown College and N.D. State School of Science at Wahpeton, N.D. He worked in aviation mechanics in Hazen, N.D. and entered the Army at Williston, N.D. and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. He was discharged in February of 1952. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Christensen in Lisbon in 1951. They had one daughter, Jana. He was married

to Donna Busch in Jamestown in 1955 and they had three sons and two daughters. He had a thirty year career as food service director at Jamestown College, Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn., University of Minn., Morris, Minn., and N.D. State School of Science, Wahpeton. He also co-owned a hardware store in Ivanhoe, Minn. for 4 years. After his retirement in 1987, he wrote a book, "Flashpoint of Deceit" about the Minnesota-Indian War of 1862. He and Donna moved to Moorhead, in 1996. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; six children, Jana (Donald) Hanna, Denver, Colo., Jay (Judy), Breckenridge, Minn., David (Carol), West Fargo, Scott

(Tami), Julie (Earl) Sorenson and Lisa (Michael) Benusa, all Moorhead; sister, Beatrice C. Stillwell, Elim Care Center, Fargo; eleven

grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Carl, Roland, Lester and Wayne Berdeen; sister, Leona Gamache and first wife, Kathleen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or Grace Lutheran School, Fargo.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

The funeral was held Wednesday, May 7, at 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.

Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pelican Rapids, Minn. Condolences can be sent via westfuneralhome.com
