LeRoy Fuss, 79, West Fargo, died Thursday, February 25, 2010, in his home, surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
LeRoy was born April 18, 1930, near Lisbon, N.D., to Hugo and Mary (Kemple) Fuss. He was raised in that area and attended rural Gilbert #6 School. He began farming and later married Clara Kinken on September 28, 1949, at Webster, S.D. They farmed until 1953 when they moved to Fargo and he began working at Union Stockyards as a mechanic. He also worked part-time as a Cass Co. Deputy Sheriff and at Midwest Patrol. He retired from the stockyards in 1993.
LeRoy and Clara were foster parents for many years and LeRoy was a member of the West Fargo Fire Department for 25 years. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards and collecting cows.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Karen (Kenneth) Berg, Fred "Butch" (Kim) Fuss, Sheila (Don) Carlson, all West Fargo; 11 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and brother, Ernest (Sue) Fuss, West Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, two brothers, two infant sisters, grandson, Loren and granddaughter-in-law, Anita.
The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses at MeritCare as well as the MeritCare Dialysis Department and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their special care.
Visitation and prayer services were held on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 in West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
A memorial service was held Monday, March 1, 2010 in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, West Fargo. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo
