Letter to the Editor: Thoughts regarding Bishop Aquila's reorganization meeting
On Tuesday, Feb. 15, there was a reorganization meeting at Holy Cross Church in West Fargo. There were about 300 people there. There were many people there that I have known for many years through Blessed Sacrament Church in West Fargo, and I know they are good people. The atmosphere in the air was hostile, very hostile. I wanted to leave, but I did not want to make a scene.
The next morning, Wednesday, I had an early phone call about some other business. After that phone call, I sat in my big chair and closed my eyes, half sleeping, when I reflected on the hostility at the meeting the night before. My eyes swelled up in tears and then I heard voices screaming "crucify him, crucify him," and my tears started running down my cheek.
After a few minutes, I wiped off my tears when I heard a soft, gentle voice off in the distance saying, "Lord, forgive them for they know not what they are doing."
