Levin takes over Eyes on 43rd: To be renamed ‘Eyesite Family Eyecare’

Longtime West Fargo optometrist Dan Levin recently expanded his practice, purchasing Eyes on 43rd in Fargo, located at 1695 43rd St. South. The site will be renamed Eyesite Family Eyecare.

While his practice will still work out of Costco on Veterans Boulevard, Levin saw this as a good time to expand his presence in the community.

“The location is fantastic, for one thing,” Levin said. “It is just a really busy area. Lucky 13 next door is busy every weekday, and Saturdays too. I also like the size of this place, and we can control the glasses and contacts we have here.”

Levin has been working in optometry for 25 years, all of it spent in the Fargo area, and cites the amount of variety in his job as the reason he continues his practice.

“To me, it is something different every time I come into the office,” Levin said. “I’ll see medical patients, glasses, contacts lenses. I’ve had people who have been told they can’t be fitted for contacts, and then we fit them successfully. It is just a variety of patients I see all the time.”

Levin has high hopes for his new location, and plans to have extended hours to make Eyesite Family Eyecare more accessible to his patients.

“We can’t just be open from 9 to 5 like we used to and expect people to be missing work and kids to get pulled out of school and practice to come see us,” Levin said. “We want to be here in the hours that it is convenient for families.”

He would also like to establish a dry-eye clinic — which, according to Levin, is a “big deal,” given the weather conditions in the Red River Valley — as well as have openings for eye emergencies. He encourages those with a sore or red eye to head to his location instead of the emergency room, as they have specialized equipment and can view the eye better than equipment in an emergency room.

According to Levin, there are plenty of reasons to choose Eyesite for your visual needs, including a deep-seeded love for the area and a passion for what he does.

“I’m invested in this community. I started first grade in West Fargo, and I’m not going anywhere,” Levin said. “I have a real passion for what I do, and we have a great staff here. The young doctors I have here are really enthusiastic and brilliant people. What we do is sell good quality and a fair price. We are not the cheapest or the most expensive in town, but you get what you pay for in glasses.”

With his newest location, Levin is looking forward to not only seeing his practice in a busier area, but also seeing his longtime patients return and bring new patients with them.

“I love the fact that I have been doing this since 1988, and I’m actually seeing some of the patients from back then bring their kids in to see me. That is pretty cool. Even though Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo is a big area, I still feel like I get to be a small-town doctor who gets to know his patients. I want to know about what they do, and I want to help them specifically with their eye problems.”

Eyesite Family Eyecare is open on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning in December, they will also be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
