Special Events:

Mitten Tree: The library's third annual Mitten Tree is up and awaiting donations. Donated mittens, scarves, and hats will be hung on the Mitten Tree and donated to West Fargo School children in need.  Please consider donating winter items and keep local children warm this winter. The tree will be up through Dec. 31.

Origami Boxes: Thursday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m. Create individual origami boxes for those favorite items and holiday gifts. All supplies provided. Open to adults and teens.

Afternoon Computer Classes for Seniors - Basic Computer, Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1 p.m. Sign up at the service desk or call 433-5460.

Technology Thursday: Create a Family Newsletter Using Microsoft Publisher (I), Thursday, Dec. 8, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Back by popular demand and just in time for the holiday season.  It's workshop night in this Technology Thursday installment, with your personal family newsletter as the goal. Take your text and photos to the library, and use Microsoft Publisher to create an impressive document that you can save, print or email.  Sign up for both weeks if you think you might need extra time to finish your masterpiece. (The second session will be held on Dec. 15.) Register at the service desk or call 433-5460.

Genealogy: Saturday, Dec. 10, 12 to 4 p.m. Genealogist Jackie Marler will be available to help you explore your family's history.  Take your projects or just ask questions.

Knitty Giddy: Tuesday, Dec. 13, 6:30 p.m. If you are an experienced knitter, take along your projects and knit; if you are a new knitter, take your size 8 to size 10 needles and a skein of yarn and you will receive help getting started. Fun, relaxed group.

Ham Radio Group: Wednesday, Dec. 7, 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Open to adults interested in learning about ham radio.

Sunday Video Games: Dec. 11, 2 p.m. Take a friend or family member and try your skills at Kinect Sports or Mario Cart Racing. 

Simply Stories: Tuesday, Dec. 13, 10 a.m. Unlike regular storytimes, this program is just stories - no crafts.  If you're looking for stories and crafts, visit the library Tuesdays at 1:30 or Thursdays at 6:30.

Storytime: Thursday, Dec. 8, 6:30 p.m. "The Missing Mitten;" Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1:30 p.m., "The Red Mitten;" Thursday, Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m., "Bob's Life."

New Movie Saturday: Dec. 10, 2 p.m., "Captain America: the 1st Avenger." A soldier who has super powers due to a military experiment battles the evil Red Skull. Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, and Tommy Lee Jones.  (Rated PG-13, 2 hrs 3 min)

Friday Morning Movie: Dec. 9, 10:30 a.m., "Tigger and Pooh's Super Sleuth Christmas." In this animated tale, a bear and his friends find Santa's toy sack and a lost reindeer. The friends must bring both to the North Pole, so Santa doesn't have to cancel Christmas. (Rated GNR, 44min.)  

Upcoming Events:

Mitten Mystery: Thursday, Dec. 15, 7 to 8 p.m. Visit the library for a story, craft, and mitten scavenger hunt. Door prizes and refreshments. Take a pair of mittens, a hat, or a scarf to add to the mitten tree (optional). All items will be donated to West Fargo Schools to help keep children warm this winter.

Pick a Craft Friday: Dec. 23, 3 to 4 p.m. Choose a craft - picture frames, braided bracelets, painted pots, and leather bands - while supplies last. Simple fun for all ages.
