Library news (July 17)

Special Events:

Garden Bingo: Thursday, July 25, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Open to all ages, including individuals not signed up for Garden Club. Win (small) bingo prizes and treats.

Music Petting Zoo: Thursday, July 25, 6:30 to 7:30 p. m. Ekroth Music presents a Music Petting Zoo. Several musical instruments will be on hand to try out. This event is open to all.

Summer Reading Program Events: It's not too late to join the Summer Reading Program. These events are free and open to the public, but registration in the Summer Reading Program is required, except as noted. As in the past, there are events and activities for all age groups and each age has a special theme. Preschoolers (Little Diggers) will have special story times and craft events. K-5 (Dig into Reading) will feature events such as Craft Mondays and the Kids' Garden Club. Grades 6-8 (Beneath the Surface) events will include a magic class and painted t-shirts. Lastly, high school and adults (Groundbreaking Reads) will enjoy a "blind date with a book" and book club. Call the library for more information. (701 433-5460)

Little Diggers (Preschool)

Simply Stories: Tuesday, July 23, 10:15 a.m. Take your little ones to the library and enjoy two stories. Geare for lap babies and preschoolers. Unlike regular storytimes, this program is just stories - no crafts. If you're looking for stories and simple make-and-take crafts, visit the Library Tuesdays at 1:30 or Thursdays at 6:30. (Registration in the Summer Reading Program is not required for this event.)

Storytime: Welcome to the wonderful world of stories and make-and-take crafts. Story times are geared for preschool through 1st grade age children and their caretakers. Daycares are welcome, but if your group is larger than 5, call ahead so there are enough crafting supplies. (701) 433-5460 (Registration in the Summer Reading Program is not required for this event.) Paint a Shirt: Monday, July 22, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Take your shirt to the library and fabric markers will provided to decorate to your heart's desire. Remember to take your own shirt.

Beneath the Surface (Grades 6-8)

Regular Events:

Tech Class - iPads Thursday, July 18, 6 p.m. This is a hands-on class exploring iPads. The library has 8 iPads that will be available for this session or you may bring you own. This is a beginners' session and class size will be limited. Pre-register at the library or by calling 701-433-5460

Genealogy: Saturday, July 20, 12 to 4 p.m. Genealogist Jackie Marler will be available to help you explore family histories. Take your projects or just ask questions.

Knitty Giddy Group: Tuesday, July 23, 6:30 p.m. Adults are invited to join this fun group of knitters and crocheters. New and experienced crafters are welcome. Attend with your own supplies. Lots of help to get beginners started. New knitters should take size 8 or 10 needles and yarn. If you'd like to learn to crochet, take a crochet hook and yarn.

Friday Morning Movie - A Bug's Life: July 19, 10:30 a.m. "Journey inside the world of bugs in this Epic of miniature proportions." (People Magazine) Rated (G) 95 minutes of fun.

Video Gaming: Wednesday, July 24, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Open to all ages. Join the fun of video gaming. Enjoy the Wii and Xbox Kinect. Don't miss this chance for free family fun.

Teacups Book Club: Monday, July 22, 7 p.m. West Fargo Public Library will be starting a book club that will meet on Mondays. Below are the titles and books to be discussed. Don't forget your cup for tea or lemonade. Free and open to high school through adults. Upcoming Events:

Closing Celebration for Summer Reading Program: Saturday, July 27, 2 to 4 p.m. Play games, do ish-ka-bibble crafts (a variety of different craft projects), have a special balloon twisted just for you, and enjoy refreshments. Door prizes will be awarded. This is the last day to turn in your minute and book logs for prizes. This event is free and open to all.

The library is located at 109 3rd St. E., in the Lodoen Community Center.
