Announcements:

Library Board Opening: The City of West Fargo Library Board has two openings for a non-salaried position beginning in July 2012. This is a three year appointment.  In order to be considered for a position, you need to provide a completed application, your resume and a cover letter stating why you would be a good addition to the rest of the committee. Applications can be found on the City of West Fargo website or via link from the West Fargo Public Library website:  www.westfargolibrary.org. Information needs to be at the city of West Fargo office by 5 p.m. on June 29.

High School Summer Reading Lists: High School AP English and Honors students take note:  Titles on your summer reading lists are available for check-out at the library. Check the displays next to the fireplace or ask at the service desk for help.

Summer Reading Program Events: It's not too late to join the Summer Reading Program at the library. Don't miss out on the following fun activities. Sign-up is free and easy at the library's service desk.

Little Dreamers (Preschool):

Simply Stories: Tuesday, June 26, 10 a.m. Take your little ones to the library and enjoy two stories. This event is geared for lap babies and preschoolers. Unlike regular storytimes, this program is just stories - no crafts. If you're looking for stories and make-and-take simple crafts, visit the library Tuesdays at 1:30 or Thursdays at 6:30.

Storytime: You are invited to listen to stories and help your child(ren) with a simple make-and-take project. This program is geared for young children. Don't underestimate the power of one half hour of time with your child! Thursday, June 21, 1:30 to 2 p.m., "If You Are a Monster and You Know It;" Tuesday, June 26, 1:30 to 2 p.m., "Go to Sleep, Gecko!" Thursday, June 28, 1:30 to 2 p.m., "I'm Big Enough."

Dream Big -- Read! (Grades K-5)

Video Gaming - Special Session. Wednesday, June 20, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This session is open to only Dream Big-Read, Summer Reading Group and their family. Meet with your friends and join in playing Kinect Sports, Mario Racing and More.

Kid's Garden Club: Thursday, June 21, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This is a joint program for Dream Big-Read (K-5th) and Own the Night (6,7 & & 8th) participants registered in the Summer Reading Program. The goal of this program is to give the children the garden bug! There will be will be short sessions on many gardening topics and some hands-on practice in planting.

Create a Mobile: Monday, June 25, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Registration in the Summer Reading Program is required to attend these sessions. This is a two-part class. Part 1, June 25, 1:30-2:30; design your personal clay items with air dry clay; Part 2, June 28, 3:30-4:30, paint air dry clay and assemble in your unique mobile.

Own the Night (Grades 6-8):

Sleep Disorders: Thursday, June 21, 7 to 8 p.m. This program is for Own the Night (6,7 and 8th grade age) and Between the Covers (H.S. through Adult) participants registered in the Summer Reading Program. Do you have trouble sleeping, snoring, or staying asleep?  This may be a session that could help you with sleep issues. The presenter, Heidi Saarinen, a nurse practitioner, is in Sleep Medicine from Sanford Health and looking forward to helping you with this issue.

Create a Mobile: Monday, June 25, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration in the Summer Reading Program required to attend these sessions. Two-part class. Between the Covers (High School - Adults)

Regular Events:

Genealogy: Saturday, June 23, 12 to 4 p.m. Genealogist Jackie Marler will be available to help explore family histories. Take your projects or just ask questions.

  Knitty Giddy Group: Tuesday, June 26, 6:30 p. m. Adults are invited to join this fun group of knitters and crocheters.  New and experienced crafters are welcome.  Attend with your own supplies; you will receive help getting started. New knitters take size 8 or 10 needles and yarn. If you'd like to learn to crochet, take crochet hook and yarn.

Wednesday Movies: June 20, 3 p.m., "Monsters, Inc." Cool off with a great children's movie and popcorn! What's that in the closet at night when you are trying to sleep?  Screaming creature, animated fun, this movie is sure to please. Rated (G)   92 minutes

Friday Morning Movies: June 22, 10:30 a.m. "Diego's Great Dinosaur Rescue." 92 minutes of adventure with dinosaurs and our favorite little explorer boy and his amigos. Movie and popcorn! Rated (E)
