The Pyrotechnics Guild International's (PGI) 2011 Rhapsody on the Red continues its main stage run on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo through Friday with the dynamic grand finale spectacular set to entertain with a variety of activities that will begin around 8:30 p.m.

PGI has over 3,500 pyrotechnic member enthusiasts, who gather each year for intense training seminars at different locations. This marks the seventh time that the Red River Valley Fair Association has hosted the event with past conventions held in 1993, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2007 and they are proud to have the group back in 2011.

Organizers will be out in full force the remainder of the display nights to ensure that everyone has an excellent time, in a family-friendly environment.

If for some reason, weather forces the cancellation of the Friday night event, the scheduled make-up date is Saturday.

A display will also be held tonight (Wednesday), starting at approximately 9 p.m., with tomorrow night (Thursday) the designated rain date.

Local fireworks aficionados have already been treated to an excellent variety of "light up the night sky" firework displays that came off without a hitch on Sunday and Tuesday nights.

Those fortunate enough to witness the large scale spectaculars so far say they are some of the finest they have seen anywhere, easily topping the local Fourth of July efforts.

The closing show on Friday night promises to be even bigger, with the display described as "some of the most intense fireworks" you will view anywhere.

Those planning on attending are encouraged to be on site early.

Ticket prices are $10 for general admission/$15 for reserved admission for Wednesday night's display. Tickets for Friday's event will be $15 for either general admission or reserved admission. Parking on the Fairgrounds is $5 per night.

No parking is permitted on public roadways in the area during the display hours. Parking at the Scheels Soccer Complex will be $10.

For safety reasons, 13th Avenue South west of the Scheels Soccer Complex will also be closed beginning at 9:30 pm each evening. Traffic will be diverted at the four-way stop at 8th Street West in West Fargo. All vehicles will be directed to enter the RRVF Parking lots from the Main Avenue entrance after 9:30 pm.

The Cass County Sheriff Department in conjunction with the North Dakota Highway Patrol and the West Fargo Police Department will be directing traffic off of the grounds following the show. Traffic delays will be expected especially for the Friday finale. There will be one-way traffic when exiting the grounds. If you are parked on the Fairgrounds midway, you will be directed to exit to the south. If you are parked in the East parking lots on the Fairgrounds, you will be directed to exit to the North and then to the East on Main Avenue. There will be no exiting to the West out of the Fairgrounds.

General admission tickets will be available at all local Stop N Go stores until Thursday, Aug. 11. Reserved seats are available at the Red River Valley Fair Office. Beginning Aug. 7, the grandstand ticket booth at the Fairgrounds will be open to sell tickets from 9 a.m. until show start time.

A complete daily schedule of activities as well as a parking map is available Online at www.redrivervalleyfair.com. Inquiries can be made to the Fair office at 701-282-2200.
