Local Boy Scouts sponsor supply drive for homeless

The local Boy Scouts of West Fargo and Horace are working together this holiday season to help others in need. Boy Scout Troops 213, 232, 246, 276 and 279 are collecting items at their weekly meetings and hosting drop off boxes around the community to gather much needed supplies for area Homeless Shelters this Christmas season.

Churches United for the Homeless and the New Life Center are desperately seeking donations to be given away during the week of Christmas. Donations of thermal socks, warm hats, winter gloves, shaving kit items and kitchen utensils are requested. The local scouts remain committed to help others in the community and this is one more example of how small acts of kindness can be shared by others.

The donation drop box locations can be found at the West Fargo Police Department, 800 4th Ave. E., and the West Fargo VFW, 308 Sheyenne St., until Dec. 16. Residents can also receive a $5 discount off any Christmas Tree from Troop 246 at their Christmas Tree Sales Lot in the Triumph Church parking lot at 3745 Sheyenne St. when they bring a donated item. As the Boy Scout founder Robert Baden-Powell once said, "The real way to gain happiness is to give it to others."
