FM Breast Friends is a local group started about six years ago offering support to women in the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo area diagnosed with breast cancer.

“We get together the first Wednesday of each month at the Moorhead Library at 7 p.m.,” said Janell Meier, breast cancer survivor and member of the support group. “We’ve become best friends.”

The fundraising event will include live entertainment by The Front Fenders and a silent auction which will include such items as a Keurig Coffee system, NDSU neon sign, “Gift Cards Galore Basket,” custom designed bean bag boards, car starter and weekend getaway in the Twin Cities (hotel stay, Chanhassen Dinner tickets and Mall of America tickets). A pink ribbon store will be set up with items to buy.

All money raised stays local and helps provide Hope Totes to newly diagnosed women. The group also provides travel grants to survivors to attend a Young Survivors Convention, as well as assist women with medical costs.

“This is the fourth year we’ve had the fundraiser, third year at the Speedway Event Center,” Meier said. “It’s a great facility and a lot of fun,” Meier said. “It gets to be a packed place, so get there early for a table.”

Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased at My Best Friends Closet in Fargo or Centre for Hair in Moorhead. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $12.
