A pair of local soccer teams recently had a big weekend at a Minnesota tournament.
The Fargo Soccer Club entered its U9 Girls Strikers, U10 Girls Thunder, U11 Boys Warriors, U12 Girls Sheyenne United and U14 Boys Snipers in the 2012 Dakota Rev-It-Up Tournament, held on successive weekends May 4-6 and May 11-13 in Apple Valley, Minn.
The Strikers won one game 7-1, and had two games rained out. The Thunder had three games rained out. The Warriors won one game 6-2, and had two games rained out.
On the second weekend, the Sheyenne United lost their opening game 6-0 to Chaska/Chanhassen United, but finished pool play with a 3-0 win and a 7-2 win. They met the Chaska/Chanhassen United once again in the championship game, losing 2-1 in an overtime penalty-kick shootout.
The Snipers finished pool play with a 2-1 win, a 1-0 win and a 4-1 win. They then won the championship game, defeating the Inver Grove Heights Heat 1-0.
Overall, the Fargo Soccer Club finished with a total of eight wins, two losses and eight rainouts.
