General election day 2010 is fast approaching, Nov. 2, and with that comes a reminder that absentee ballots are now available for eligible voters.

They can be picked up at the Cass County Auditors office in Fargo at 211 9th St. S., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or they may also be downloaded by visiting the county website at www.casscountynd.gov or may be obtained by calling the auditor's office at 701-241-5600.

During the primary election held in June, there were early voting precincts open that few people in our community took advantage of, because they said they weren't aware they could vote early. I heard that comment time and time again from countless people who said they learned of the sites after the fact.

On that note, three early voting sites will also be open prior to the General Election, with one of those conveniently located in West Fargo at the Veterans Memorial Arena, 1201 7th Ave. E., starting Oct. 25, and continuing through Oct. 29.

The other two sites will be the Doublewood Inn in Fargo, also from Oct. 25-Oct. 29, and the Governor's Inn in Casselton, from Oct. 26-Oct. 28. All of the sites will remain open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

So if you'd like to cast your vote early for whatever the reason, these spots provide the perfect opportunity for all qualified individuals in Cass County to do so.

As election day approaches, additional details will be forthcoming reinforcing the dates, locations and times pertaining to all voting information.
