Microsoft Hohm available to Xcel Energy customers
Xcel Energy customers may now take advantage of Microsoft Hohm, an online application that enables them to better understand their energy usage, get energy-saving recommendations and lower their energy bills.
Microsoft Hohm provides consumers with personalized energy-saving recommendations, which can help them lower their energy bill and reduce their impact on the environment. The beta application is available at no cost to customers with an Internet connection and can be accessed directly by visiting http://www.microsoft-hohm.com.
"Customers will be able to interact with Xcel Energy using the Hohm product," said Rajeev Purohit, manager, eBusiness management for Xcel Energy. "The product will give our customers the ability to look at their energy consumption history, understand how they use energy and get customized recommendations," he added.
Once Xcel Energy customers sign up for the free service, they can opt for getting their individual energy-usage data sent directly into the system. From there, they will be able to get an energy-cost breakdown to see where their energy dollars are going, benchmarking their energy use, learn about low cost/no cost energy-saving tips to help lower their energy bills and get information about money-saving rebates.
"We are proud to work with organizations like Xcel Energy that share a belief that their customers can and want to be responsible consumers of energy," said Troy Batterberry, principal product unit manager for Microsoft Hohm. "Providing this kind of data connection through Microsoft Hohm makes it easy for customers to gain insight into how their decisions and actions impact their energy usage and cost. It also demonstrates Xcel Energy's commitment to improving energy efficiency throughout the community."
Batterberry is a 1985 West Fargo High School graduate and the son of DeWitt and Marlene Batterberry, longtime West Fargo residents.
