Mildred Theresa Gerda Urdahl was born to Knute and Amanda (Thompson) Urdahl on Nov. 3, 1917 in their home in Flaxville, Mont. As a very young girl, she moved with her parents to their family home near Flom, Minn. She attended Sunny Hill School and later Twin Valley High School.

Mildred worked as a waitress until she met and married Gerald Iverson on Nov. 11, 1944. They were married at Wild Rice Lutheran Church near Flom. Mildred and her husband owned and operated their farm for 16 years. It was there that their five sons were born; David, Dennis, Douglas, James and Jeffrey. Mildred loved being a homemaker and taking care of her boys.

Gerald and Mildred lived in Twin Valley prior to making their home in Mahnomen. Before being admitted to the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home in 2004, she was active in her church, taking part in worship, ladies aid, quilting and Sunday school before her health prevented her from doing these things.

Surviving Mildred are her husband, Gerald Iverson of Mahnomen; five sons, David (Linda) Iverson of Detroit Lakes, Dennis (JoAnn) Iverson of Perham, Douglas Iverson of Fargo, James (Bonnie) Iverson of Fergus Falls and Jeffrey (Kathy) Iverson of Staples; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Preceding Mildred in death were her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 15, at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen, with the Rev. John Lee officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Walt and Julie Aanenson, Kenny and Ruth Urdahl, and Lyle and Debbie Haroldson. Mildred's grandchildren, including Kimberly Doyle, Jodi Weber, Eric Iverson, Sean Iverson, Kelly Egge, Mandy Iverson, Anthony Iverson, Rebekah Iverson, Kirstin Iverson, Lynnea Iverson, Jenessa Iverson and LeRoy Baumiller, were the honorary bearers.

Arrangements were entrusted to Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen. An online guest book is available at andersonmattson.com.
