Mobile park program coming to West Fargo
A new mobile park program is coming to West Fargo on Fridays.
Each weekday, the P.O.D. will make two-hour stops at three local parks – Mondays and Wednesdays in Moorhead, Tuesdays and Thursdays in Fargo and Fridays in West Fargo.
The parks chosen have the least amount of structured activities right now and are in spots where transportation for families might be an issue. Some of the parks are also sites where free lunches are served in the summer.
P.O.D. is designed to get kids outside and moving, with structured and self-directed activities and games.
P.O.D. is modeled after similar programs in Madison, Wis.; Mesa, Ariz.; and Seattle, Wash. It was made possible by a $50,000 grant from Dakota Medical Foundation of Fargo.
The program will run its full schedule through summer and will scale back some as needed when the school year starts.
The truck is expected to keep rolling through the middle of October, weather permitting.
Where to find the P.O.D. truck in West Fargo on Fridays:
- 10 a.m. to noon, Herb Tintes Park
- 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Armour Park
