Mother of actor to speak at local event
What is raising a child star like, for a Hollywood mother? What does faith have to do with it?
These topics will be the focus of remarks by Barbara Cameron as the featured speaker at this year's Harvest Leadership Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 to 10 a.m., at the Fargo Holiday Inn.
Cameron is the mother of famed television and movie actor Kirk Cameron, the former "Growing Pains" television child actor and star of the recent movie phenomenon "Fireproof." She is the author of the book "A Full House of Growing Pains...A Hollywood mother's journey."
Cameron will discuss the challenges of raising a family in Hollywood, the unique pressures of being the mother of a child actor, and how her unique experience led her to a life of faith.
The Harvest Leadership Prayer Breakfast has become an autumn tradition for many in the Red River Valley. Sponsored by the Valley Christian Leadership Association, the event has brought speakers of national stature to the community with messages focused upon faith.
It also features participation by other local and regional leaders.
