The Mystikix, comprised of seventh- and eighth-graders from Cheney Middle School in West Fargo, competed during the State Dance Tournament in Minot, on Jan. 28-29. They took first place in the junior high division, competing against 10 other teams from across the state.

Kristi Brager has coached the Mystikix for 17 years, and this is her first experience at being a state champion.

The team also received a sportsmanship award, as well as an academic achievement award given to teams whose dancers have a grade point average of 3.32 or higher.

The Mystikix are coached by Brager, Kelli Clark and Barb Ness.
