Their Kick routine also earned them the Judge’s Choice award, which was given to only 14 of the 687 routines that were performed over the weekend. The judges chose one routine in each category that stood out and the 14 winners performed again at the end of the weekend in a judge’s showcase.

This competition marked the end of the Mystikix season, but the team is not waiting too long to prepare for next season.

Tryout practice will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 18 – 22 and tryouts will take place on Saturday, March 23, starting at 8:00 a.m. at Cheney Middle school.

For the first time, the team will be made up of 7th and 8th graders from both Cheney and the new Liberty Middle School in the fall.

For parents of interested dancers, there will be a mandatory parents meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Cheney theater.
