Nor-Son receives two awards
Nor-Son, Inc. received two Contractor of the Year Awards (COTY) from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry at the 14th Annual Contractor of the Year Awards ceremony at the McNamara Alumni Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on Nov. 19. In recognition of outstanding achievement a first place award was received in the category of Entire House Under $250,000, for the Dutch Colonial Remodel/Addition, Brainerd, Minn.; and in Best of the Decade, an honorable mention award for the Historic Log Renovation, Bay Lake, Minn.
As the design/builder for the Dutch Colonial Remodel/Addition, Nor-Son created a comfortable, welcoming area for the entire family to gather, that connects to the other main living areas of the home.
Nor-Son completed the Bay Lake Historic Log Renovation in conjunction with Architect Christine Albertsson of Albertson Hanson Architects in 2003. The historic 1933 log cabin had been ignored for years and the clients' goal was to restore the antique character of the home, as well as create a modern cabin suitable for entertaining friends and family. The project team successfully translated the goals into a charming cottage style appearance, with fieldstone columns, intimate log stairwells, and a cozy screen porch with shed dormer above that will be enjoyed for years to come.
The COTY Awards offer an opportunity for the Minnesota remodeling industry to acknowledge the year's accomplishments in 25 categories and to recognize individual successes. Hosted by the Minnesota chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and sponsored by Shaw/Stewart Lumber Company, this year's festivities drew more than 255 guests.
