The West Fargo varsity Packatahnas got the chance to start their season early by attending the Champion Crown Cup Competition in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Nov. 21, winning first place in the High School Pom Large Group category and taking second place in the High School Jazz division.

The junior varsity Packatahnas also danced at the North Dakota State University men's basketball game Nov 21, performing their pom routine. 

Both teams competed in Fargo North's annual Spartacas Dance Invitational on Dec. 5, competing in jazz, pom, kick and hip hop divisions. In the process, they took home a number of honors. Varsity Packatahnas won first place in Class A kick, Class A jazz, and Class A hip hop. The West Fargo JV Packatahnas grabbed first in the JV jazz and second in JV pom.

The West Fargo Packatahnas will be participating in the Invitational Dance Competition on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the West Fargo High School Gymnasium. Doors open at 11:45 a.m., with opening ceremonies and competition beginning at 12:45 p.m.

The competition will involve 41 teams from varsity (Class A and Class B), junior varsity, junior high, college and studio groups competing in high kick, dance, pom and hip hop catagories. 

Approximately 450 to 500 dancers will perform and compete from West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead, Kindred, Central Cass, Thompson, Barnesville, Jamestown, Frazee, Valley City, Bismarck, Devils Lake and Dickinson.  NDSU, the University of North Dakota, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and Concordia also have registered teams and there will be ten exhibition routines.

Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and K-12. West Fargo students with activity passes will be admitted free. Concessions will be available.

Mystikix win at invitational

The West Fargo Mystikix also took top honors at the Fargo North Spartacas Dance Invitation, winning the Junior High division.

They opened the dance show with an exhibition of their Hip Hop routine, with first place honors awarded for their High Kick performance.

The Mystikix's next competition will be at the West Fargo Invitational.
