“Shelby is one of those players that goes unnoticed a lot, because she does things so fluidly,” head coach Barb Metcalf said. “I was very impressed with her grit tonight. She played like a senior.”

Not far behind her was senior guard Cass Thorson, who scored 22 points, 17 of them in the second half, and hit four shots from behind the arc.

Friday’s game saw the girls down by six at halftime, but they scored 43 points in the second half while holding their opponent to 28.

In this game, the girls were led by senior Cassidy Nelson, who had 19 points, five boards and a block.

The 10-0 Packers host Fargo North tomorrow evening, then Devils Lake Saturday evening.

“We are going to keep going,” Gustafson said. “We need to improve as a team. There are little things we need to work, and we need to continue doing well where we already are.”
