Packer girls win two more

The West Fargo girls' basketball team had another great week, beating the Valley City Hi-Liners 68-47 on Tuesday, then besting the Fargo South Bruins 73-54 on Friday to win their sixth consecutive game.

In Tuesday's game, junior guard Cassidy Thorson had 15 points and six rebounds, and the Packers had a 16-0 run in the first half to hand the Hi-Liners their first loss of the season.

Not far behind Thorson was senior guard Christine Baltezore, who had 14 points and three steals, and junior forward Kaitlin Langerud, who had 10 points, six rebounds and made all six of her free throw attempts.

The team as a whole had 23 points coming off of turnovers, as well as 20 points from the players coming off the bench.

In Thursday's game, the Packers got a strong performance from senior guard Lexi Lennon, who had a game-high 25 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Behind Lennon was Baltezore, who had 16 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The team managed 27 points off Fargo South turnovers and had 24 points coming from behind the arc. They also had an impressive 15 offensive rebounds.

The Packers (6-1) are tied for first place in the Eastern Dakota Conference with Fargo Shanley.

The team's next game is a battle for the top spot in the conference against the Deacons on Tuesday evening at 5:45 p.m. at West Fargo High School.
