Packers 'Dig for the Cure,' sweep Eagles

The Packers volleyball team promoted its "Dig for the Cure" campaign on Thursday night in support of breast cancer awareness, and did not disappoint. They beat the Fargo Davies Eagles 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-18).

As part of their "Dig for the Cure" campaign, both teams wore pink - the Eagles wore a lighter shade to avoid confusion - as did most of the fans in attendance.

The Packers were led by juniors Amanda Levin and Shelby Gustafson, both of whom had earned 13 kills and an ace. Christina Bruenjes tallied 10 kills and Courtney Suppa had eight.

Senior setter Andrea Klug had a game-high 39 assists and senior libero Jolene Woodbury led the team with 11 digs.

The victory moved to the Packers to 17-12 on the season and 11-5 in the Eastern Dakota Conference.

They are just three games behind the conference-leading Fargo Shanley Deacons, but are currently fifth in the conference.

The Packers' final regular-season game is a home game against the Fargo South Bruins tomorrow night at 7 p.m.

The North Dakota high school volleyball playoffs begin on Tuesday.
