Packers tennis wins four of five
The boys’ tennis team is off to its hottest start in head coach Chad Anderson’s 14 years with the team.
“We have never been 8-1 in my 14 years of coaching,” Anderson said. “We also beat Bismarck Century in a dual for the first time ever in West Fargo’s boys’ tennis history.”
The boys started their week with their first defeat of the season, a 9-0 loss to the Grand Forks-Red River Roughriders on Thursday.
The Pack lost every match in straight sets against Red River, but didn’t stay down for long.
They bounced back the next day by winning every single match in straight sets in a 9-0 victory over the Williston Coyotes. Later that day, they pulled off a close 5-4 victory against Bismarck Century for the first time ever.
On Saturday morning, the Pack scored a 4-1 win in a shortened, 3-2 format match against Mandan.
They followed that up in the afternoon with a decisive 9-0 victory over Jamestown.
With the exception of his loss to Red River, junior Brady Ballweber won all of his matches in straight sets.
The West Fargo Invitational tennis tournament begins on Friday at noon with the Packers facing Bismarck. The tournament will see 16 teams play over 100 matches in two days.
