With 11 games left in the regular season, the undefeated Packer girls' hockey team is showing no sign of slowing down. They beat the Fargo North Spartans 9-3 last Tuesday before trouncing the Mandan Braves 14-0 on Friday.
The Packers were led by senior forward Hayley Walsh against the Spartans. She scored an impressive five goals - two of them short-handed - and assisted on two more to add seven points to her staggering season point total.
The team also got a hat trick from junior forward Allison Springer, along with two assists.
The team's other goal came from sophomore forward Maddy Nelson. Junior defenseman Tori Holland tallied three assists, while Kelly Krahn and Rachael Monkman each had an assist of their own.
Senior goalie Andrea Klug stopped 23 of the 26 shots she faced.
In Friday's game against Mandan, Krahn led the team statistically. The junior forward scored four goals and had four assists.
Walsh was right behind her, scoring three goals and tallying four assists.
The team also had goals from Springer, Monkman and Holland.
Eighth-grade forward Janey Sandoval had two goals and freshman forward Paige Lazorenko had one of her own.
Saturday's game against Fergus Falls was cancelled due to weather, and will most likely be rescheduled.
The 13-0-0 Packers will host the 10-4-0 Bismarck Demons on Saturday at 2 p.m., as well as the Fargo South Bruins on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
