Packers win two of three
While their record says they are .500 on the season, the Packers volleyball team has looked better than that the past few weeks. Proof of that came last week, when the Packers won two of their three games.
After falling to Fargo Davies 3-1 on Tuesday, the Pack bounced back with a 3-0 win over Grand Forks Central on Tuesday.
“We came out really strong,” senior Kaitlyn Langerud said. Our recent loss gave us a little fire, and we really wanted to come out and win tonight.”
“They were relaxed out there,” head coach Paula Pierson said. “They were having fun and playing the style of volleyball that we try to get them to play every night. I think one of the big keys tonight is that we really limited the number of errors we had. That was huge for us.”
The Packers then went on to top Fargo north 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
In that game, senior Courtney Suppa tallied 26 kills, three blocks and two aces. Shelby Gustafson earned 17 kills and three blocks, while Langerud had eight kills and a team high 27 digs.
Setter Jadyn Cookman had 38 assists in the game.
“We have had some more consistency with Jadyn as the single setter,” Pierson said. “There is a better flow to the game for us.”
The 14-14 Packers are down to their final two games of the regular season. They travel to Wahpeton tomorrow night before heading to Valley City on Tuesday night. Both games are set for 7 p.m.
