Park District hosting holiday skating event, other programs
The West Fargo Park District will be hosting "Skating with Santa" on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Arena. Skate to holiday music while visiting with Santa. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. A canned food item for the Fargo-Moorhead Food Pantry will be the ticket to get in. This is a free event open to the public.
The Park District will be also be offering a variety of other activities including:
Fitness classes with the option of attending class either one day a week or two days a week. Kickboxing Class will be held on Tuesdays and the Fitness Sampler Class will be held on Thursdays, which will give participants a taste of other types of fitness which may include Zumba, Pilates and Xtreme Mix, combining cardio and weight training. These eight-week classes will be held from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Arena. The one-day kickboxing class fee is $50 and the two-day kickboxing/fitness sampler fee is $90.
An introductory course to Air Pistol Shooting Sports, in partnership with the Red River Regional Marksmanship Center, with the option to move into an advanced course. Classes will begin in January at the Red River Regional Marksmanship Center, 640 16th St. N.E., West Fargo. The classes will be held on Thursdays for youth ages 11-17 years old. The Air Pistol Shooting Sports for Beginners is geared toward first-time shooters with little to no previous shooting experience. The primary course objectives include instruction of safe air gun handling practices, sight alignment, trigger control, and an introduction to international style shooting events.
Participants must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All required equipment and materials including air pistols, supporting stands, pellets, targets, and eye protection are provided. Take a sweater or light jacket.
The Advanced Air Pistol Shooting Sports course is for participants that have mastered the skills in the beginners' course and are ready to advance. This course will include safe air gun handling practices, sight alignment, trigger control, and an introduction to international style shooting events. Participants are strongly encouraged to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
