Since March 23, the patrol has responded to 14 crashes in the areas surrounding the 45th Street work zone, according to a news release.

Of those crashes, four involved injuries to either the driver or passengers, two were hit-and-run crashes and eight involved property damage only.

Traffic in the area can get backed up to a point where it's at a standstill, the patrol said. The patrol asks commuters to pay close attention to the traffic in front of them as they approach the area on eastbound and westbound Interstate 94 and on southbound I-29 at the I-94 interchange.
