PECAN CRUNCH

16 oz. box Quaker Oat Squares (6 C.)

2 cups pecan pieces

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1/2 stick margarine

1 tsp. vanilla

Heat oven to 250 degrees. Combine cereal and pecan pieces in 9x13" pan, set aside. Combine syrup, brown sugar, and margarine in a 2 cup microwavable bowl. Microwave on high for 1/2 to 1 1/2 minutes, stir. Then microwave on high again for another 1/2 to 1 1/2 minutes. Stir in vanilla and baking soda and pour over the cereal mixture. Stir to coat evenly. Bake one hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Spread on a cookie sheet to cool. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
