Police talking with armed man; incident closes Fargo street

FARGO - Police have closed off 23rd Street in the area of 19th Avenue South this morning as they attempt to deal with an individual inside a residence who claims to have a gun, a police spokesman said.

Dispatchers received a call from a suicidal individual who said he had a gun and would harm anyone who tried to help him, said Police Sgt. Mark Lykken.

The area was closed off to traffic as a precaution, Lykken said.

The residence involved is in the 2300 block of Sundance Circle.

No other information was available.
