Real estate tax statements for 2010 for properties located in Cass County have been distributed with a variety of sites set up for payment, including the taxpayer's local bank, lending institution or through the Cass County website at www.casscountynd.gov., available 24 hours a day.
There is also a drop box at the security desk at the Courthouse front entrance or taxes may be paid in person at the Treasurer's Office, 211 9th St. S., or mailed to Post Office Box 2806, Fargo, N.D. 58108. Receipts will not be mailed. Your check will be your receipt and the bottom portion of your statement, your permanent record.
A five percent discount is offered if the full year's taxes are paid on or before Feb. 15, 2011. For 2010 income tax purposes, the payment must be postmarked or received in the County Treasurer's Office, or at your local financial institution, on or before Dec. 31, 2010. Due to the holiday season, all county offices will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
If you have a change of address, it is important that you notify the Treasurer's Office as soon as possible. If you do not receive a statement, contact the Treasurer's Ofice at 241-5611. The North Dakota Century Code states that failure to receive a statement doesn't relieve the property owner of liability or extend the discount privilege past the Feb. 15 deadline.
For additional information, contact Cass County Treasurer Charlotte Sandvik at 241-5611.
