The project suffered a minor time setback with the significant rainfall and winds last week.

The main line is complete as are the approaches into respective driveways with all businesses throughout the corridor having their new driveways accessible to customers from Main Avenue.

Work continues on the sidewalks, on boulevards including the addition of topsoil and seeding; curbs and gutters; and on the businesses accesses and mailboxes.

Permanent signage and roadway markings and stripings will also be completed, along with the installation of light poles, and stop light work, which will be flashing as caution lights, acting as four-way stops, until the project is open or an area of the corridor opens both lanes of traffic.

The traffic control presently in place will remain until the end of the week.

The first area of roadway that is set to open both lanes of east or westbound traffic will be from Fifth Street East to Ninth Street East. By the end of next week, all lanes of traffic in this stretch are expected to be open.

At that time, the stop lights at Ninth Street East will be operational in all directions for traffic on Main Avenue and Ninth Street East.

There should be no additional road closures or problems with access for businesses along Main Avenue, unless it is only temporary in nature.

The speed limit will remain at 25 mph in the work area until all the construction is completed.

At that time a special ribbon cutting ceremony will be planned to signal the end of phase two.

Per the North Dakota Department of transportation's agreement for the project, the city of West Fargo staff will also take over maintenance of Main Avenue effective Nov. 1.
