Republicans to host candidate forum

District 13 residents will have a chance to meet prospect Republican representatives at a “Meet the Candidates” forum from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Payroll Express, 301 Sheyenne Street.

On Monday, two West Fargo businessmen announced they will seek the Republican Party’s nomination for election to the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 13, a seat vacated by retiring Rep. Alon Wieland.

Army Veteran Christopher Olson, CEO of Treasure Island Coins Inc., and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel David Zupi, director of operations for Triton Systems Inc., in Fargo are seeking election to Weiland’s seat.

The two men will face off for the Republican Party’s endorsement at the District 13 legislative endorsing convention at 6 p.m. on March 4 at the Carl Ben Eielson Middle School in Fargo.

Rep. Kim Koppleman and Sen. Judy Lee have both announced they will seek re-election and will also attend the forum.
