Reuer: Hello, West Fargo
I just wanted to take a moment and say, “Hello,” to the residents of West Fargo. This will be my first Pioneer/News to be printed since taking the reins from interim assistant editor Carrie Snyder.
The Pioneer is special as the only publication in the metro area that is devoted entirely to one city. And I’m convinced it’s a great city I would love to know more about. I’m hoping residents contact me with story ideas or comments about what they would like to see in their own community newspaper. I want to hear from readers what types of stories you would like to see more of, maybe even see less of.I’m especially interested in hearing from any residents who are writers, columnists or bloggers. The Pioneer already has some terrific columns that run every two weeks, but if there are topics or people of interest that readers would like to see featured in the Pioneer, it is of great interest to us.I graduated from Jamestown High School and the University of Minnesota, Morris. After school, I headed out to California and worked in Hollywood for a bit before moving back to the Midwest. While I’ve lived in Fargo for a while now as The Forum’s evening reporter, working 2 to 11 p.m., I haven’t had much of a chance to meet many people or take part in so many of the great community activities. So now, while I’m getting to know West Fargo residents, I’m hoping to also get to know all the great things there are to do in the city. I’ve always been adventurous and willing to try just about anything (once, at least), so as the weeks go by, I hope to document what I have learned and the great events that are happening around the city in my own column for the Pioneer. As assistant editor of the Pioneer, I will be finding, editing and writing stories. But my position is designed to work in tandem with The Forum, and I will be writing stories about West Fargo issues and people that will be of interest to the metro and North Dakota residents. The hybrid position will help get news and information out to the greater population of the metro and North Dakota, which will be a positive thing for West Fargo. I’m excited to dig much deeper into the city to meet its newsmakers, characters and most importantly all its residents who have a story.Thankfully, Carrie Snyder will continue her involvement with The Pioneer, laying out the news and photos beautifully each week. Daniel Determan is also continuing his role as sports editor.I can be reached at 241-5530 or by email at email@example.com.I hope to talk to you soon.
