Rockers participating are to get sponsors for the time they rock. There will be a donation container in the lobby for those who want to contribute to this very worthy cause.

For 17 consecutive years, the Ladies Auxiliary raised $3 million annually. Members now aim for this every year. The members of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW have been raising money to fund cancer research and assist members battling cancer since 1947, donating $5.7 million dollars to facilities in the search for a cure for cancer. Overall, they have contributed to more than 100 research centers including: The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, Maine; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.; Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.; and Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Rochester, Minn.

In addition to what the national president donates to these facilities, the departments are awarded a percentage of their donations to return to cancer research facilities in their states. North Dakota Ladies Auxiliary has donated over $228,000 to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo.

The Ladies Auxiliary VFW also awards a two-year $100,000 Postdoctoral Cancer Research Fellowship to a promising researcher. A panel of physicians and researchers reviews the applications and selects the doctor with the most innovative and promising ideas.
